- Petrus 2018, Château Pétrus
Wines from the same manufacturer
Pétrus is an estate located in Bordeaux, more precisely in the appellation Pomerol, near the border with Saint-Émilion. The small estate, measuring just under 12 acres, produces one of the best and most expensive wines in the world. The vineyards are 100% planted with Merlot.
Petrus is a wine that expresses true enlightenment. It is full-bodied with strong tannins that are extremely integrated and harmonious. It is an extremely concentrated, richly aromatized, luxurious red wine, characterized by incredible strength, depth and richness, and at the same time an exceptional balance with penetrating aromas of blueberries, spices, black patch, licorice and zermel notes. In all this, the lively beauty and exceptional harmony of the wine never stand out.
Wine with exceptional aging potential.

Pétrus
The 11.4 hectare vineyard is located on a plateau on the highest part of Pomerol in the far east of the appellation. The topsoil and the subsoil at Pétrus is almost all clay (in neigbouring properties the soil is a mixture of gravel-sand or clay-sand) and Merlot flourishes in this soil. Pétrus' vineyard is planted with 95% Merlot.
The vines are unusually old and are only replanted after they reach 70 years of age. The grapes are hand harvested only in the afternoon, when the morning dew has evaporated, so as not to risk even the slightest dilution of quality. The grapes are fermented in cement vats and the wine is aged in 100% new oak barrels for 22-28 months. It is bottled unfiltered.
