At the southern extremity of the Côte de Beaune and encroaching on the department of Saône-et-Loire, the Maranges AOC embraces the communes of Cheilly-les-Maranges, Dezize-les-Maranges and Sampigny-les-Maranges. The “Fussière” climat covers an area of almost 35 ha, which makes it the most extensive of the appellation. It has a southerly exposure and lies mainly on a hill-slope where the altitude ranges from 290 to 350 metres and there are numerous springs. The soil is whitish, stony and overlies blue marl.
