Gorca is a wine-growing village known for generations. On its hills lie the three vineyards where our Furmint grows. The extremely thin, slightly perforated berry skin of this variety is sensitive to weathering. Not every vintage makes a harvest possible. The grape variety Furmint has a long history and accordingly varied developments. We were fortunate to get clones from old Slovenian vines that promise the highest quality.
Special features of origin:
This wine grows exclusively on the steep terraces of Gorca. The south-facing boiler layers store the heat in the summer, which benefits the development of the furmints. The soils are characterized by limestone marl (Opok).
Vina Gross
Wine Gross are a masterpiece of young talented wine-grower Michael Gross from Austria Styria, who fell in love with Slovenian Gorca (Styria Province), where his parents bought a weekend ten years ago. He was inspired by the potential of the vineyards and he noticed the opportunity of producing wines of the highest quality.
With his wife, Mario started producing wines in SLovenia. Maria and Michael are heart and soul of Gross wine.
Wine Gross portfolio containes of seven varietal wines and they all shows a strong reflection of the terroir of Styria. The wines are of high quality.
In the cultivation of wine they rely on natural, traditional methods. They using spontanous fermentation in the wine making process - without the intervention of artificial yeasts - and ripen in wooden casks for a long time.
